History and description
Tepe or Tol-e Yagheh Sangar is located in the southeastern extremity of the Dasht-e Rostam plain, 1 km south of the present-day village of Khong-e Taheri. The site consists of a roughly rectangular mound, measuring 60 x 60 m with a height of 3 meters above the surrounding area. There are traces of rectilinear stone structures and dressed stone constructions. Architectural remains and surface ceramics suggest a date in the late Sasanian/Islamic period.
Archaeological Exploration
In 2005, a joint team of archaeologists from Sydney University and the Iranian Center for Archaeological Research led by Dan Potts and Kourosh Roustaei visited the mound and recorded all the visible remains.
