History and description

Qolhak is both a locality and neighborhood in the northern part of the city of Tehran. It used to be one of the city's northern suburbs known for its summertime pleasant climate.  Qolhak lies to the south of the Qeytarieyh spur, covering approximately the old village of Qolhak which was well known as the location of the summer compound of the British embassy in the 19th century. Qolhak situated on the southern flank of the Qeytariyeh hills, is, in fact, a part of the same outlying spur of the Alborz that was occupied by the graveyard of Qeytariyeh. The discovery of a quantity of gray burnished pottery at the beginning of the 20th century provides evidence for the existence of graves of much the same type as the ones at Qeytariyeh.

Archaeological Exploration

No thorough archaeological exploration has so far been conducted at the findspot of the tombs at Qolhak.
