History and description
Tepe Seavan is located in the Margvar Valley, 35 km southwest of Lake Urmia. The mound lies outside the village of Gerdevan. It measures 158 m in diameter on its east-west axis and stands about 6 m above the surrounding plain.
Four soundings dug by a team from the University of Columbia in the 1960s provide the only evidence for the history of Tepe Seavan. No traces of architectural remains have been reported. As a result of the pottery finds at Tepe Seavan, there appear to have been two occupation periods, one associated with Dalma Ware, the other with Pisdeli Ware.
Archaeological Exploration
Tepe Seavan was explored by a team from the University of Columbia led by Ralph Solecki in 1968.
Finds
Finds consist of pottery, Dalma Ware and Pisdeli Ware, and animal bones.
