History and description
The village of Darrūs - now part of the city of Tehran - is situated to the south of Qolhak. A group of pottery vessels found fortuitously in the garden belonging to Mehdi-Qoli Khan-e Hedāyat was examined and published by Habibollah. Samadi. The vessels were kept in the private library of Hedāyat before being transferred to the Iran Bastan Museum (the National Museum of Iran) in 1953. The objects came from a graveyard within the area of Hedayat’s estate and were probably uncovered accidentally. The garden belonged to Mehdi-Qoli Khan-e Hedāyat known as Mokhberossaltaneh (1863-1955), who was Prime Minister in 1927 and in 1930, and the author of several important books on the history of his time. In 1953, after a visit of A. Godard and M.T. Mostafavi, Hedāyat donated ten vessels of his collection to the Museum.
