History and description
Tol-e Pir is a long mound overlaying a natural hill or outcrop. It measures 220 x 120 m with a height of 5 m above the surrounding area. There are emplacements in bedrock possibly used for grinding. The surface ceramics suggest a date in the Sasanian/Islamic period.
Archaeological Exploration
Tol-e Pir was visited and recorded by a joint team of archaeologists from Sydney University and the Iranian Center for Archaeological Research led by Dan Potts and Kourosh Roustaei in 2005.
