Recent archaeological excavations at Tol-e Qal’eh

Soundings were carried out at the important site of Tol-e Qal’eh in the Marvdasht Plain by Abolfazl Khatibi on behalf of the Parsa-Pasargadae Research Foundation based at Persepolis. The test trenches determined the extent of the 5-hectare mound. Tol-e Qal’eh is a key archaeological site in Fars. It was first explored by Louis Vanden Berghe in the 1950s.
