Achaemenids in Cappadocia

Turkish and French archaeologists uncovered Persian period layers at Zeyve Höyük in Cappadocia, southern Turkey. Stone structures appeared sometime after the Iron age period, most probably during the Persian occupation of the site under the Achaemenids in the sixth and fifth centuries B.C. The discovery is significant in that there are few remains from the Persian period in the Cappadocia.
